Our good and dear friend, Dr. Ian Heckman often refers to Envoking the Sublime through Dance… an unbodied connection and mental feeling derived from watching dance. Our dear friend Mariah Maloney debuts into a new artistic medium… Film.
“As a first time filmmaker, I am thrilled to share this intimate work with viewers from around the globe”-Mariah Maloney.
Sublime is truly the prefect word Jerry uses when watching Mariah awaken and emerge from a Covid Cocoon; through dance
As the pandemic began to shutter people in their homes, Maloney found herself dancing alone in her living room with the camera as witness. Months later, she located her choreographic process outdoors on the original indigenous lands of the Ais Tribe – Today these lands are known as Melbourne Beach, Maritime Hammock Sanctuary and the Indian River. Working with natural light, the environment and landscape, in collaboration with composer JoAnne Maffia, Mariah created… she created A Visitor’s Intimacy of the Now a part of the Documentary Film: ‘The Making of Hammer and Rain: Reflections Through Time. A Visitor’s Intimacy of the Now explores improvisation in response to the land, in dialogue with choreographic structure, unearthing the articulate sensing body through the medium of film.
Maloney’s A Visitor’s Intimacy To Now premiered as part of the UneARTH’s Film Festival Second Annual Showcase 2021.
Fishenfeld salutes all the artist participating in the UneARTH’s artistic universe and sphere.
